Example 2: Sync items between two Outlook clients and multiple folders

In this example, there are two groups

  • Primary Group (default Calendar folders on Home and Office PCs)
  • Business Group (A calendar folder called "Business Events" on Home PC, and a calendar folder called "Top Accounts" on Office PC)
  • The sync are two-way

Steps:

  1. Install SyncCenter on Office PC and Home PC
  2. On Home PC, SyncCenter -> Sync Options -> Calendar -> Folders, select "Sync Selected folders".
  3. Then, select the default Calendar folder (e.g. called Calendar) and the folder called "Business Events ".

  4. Then, sync your Home PC with VCO. All the items will be synced to VCO. In this example, there are 10 events in the Calendar folder and 32 events in the"Business Events" folder.

  5. On your Office PC, SyncCenter -> Sync Options -> Calendar -> Folders, select "Sync Selected folders".
  6. Select the default Calendar folder (e.g. called Calendar) and the folder called "Top Accounts".
  7. In VCO, Sync screen, check option "Only copy folders structure", and then sync with Office PC. It will create the folders in VCO. In this example, you can see that the "Office:Top Accounts" folder is added VCO with number of records equal to zero.

  8. Then, in the VCO Folders screen, expand the "Business Events" group. Then, click the "Link" icon () and add the "Top Accounts" folder to the "Business Events" group.

  9. Then, sync VCO with Office PC again. The items in your Office Outlook will be synced to VCO. In there example, there are 32 events being synced to Office PC and two events synced from Office PC to VCO. Therefore, there are 34 events in the "Office: Top Accounts" folder.

  10. Then, sync with Home PC again, the items on Office PC default folder and "Top Accounts" folder will be synced to Home PC, Therefore, you will see 34 events in "Home:Business Events" folder after sync with Home PC. Also, you can click the group menu icon () to rename the group. In this example, we change it from "Home:Business Events" to "Business Events"

  11. Remember, in VCO, you cannot add a non-empty folder to a group (the folders on PC doesn't need to be empty). Therefore, you need to sync the folder structure on Office PC to VCO first, then add the folder to the group, and then sync again.
  12. By default, VCOrganizer Calendar displays all the events. To display the events in "Business Events" group only, select the Filter from menu, and select the "Business Events" Group. You can also select to filter by categories. In this example, we only display events in "Business Events" group with categories "Favorites" or "Gifts".
